Art Notes:

To create this piece, I referenced a photograph I took in Fall 2021. This scene is the view through the early Autumn trees near the trail which leads to the bottom of Stubb's Falls in Arrowhead Provincial Park, located near Huntsville, Ontario. Here at this spot, the Little East River cascades down a chute of rocks and then gently pools and travels over gentler croppings. When painting this piece, I tried to capture the light of the sun where it lit-up the river and highlighted the trees and select rocks. The leaves had started to turn and some had already fallen across the rockbase where these beautiful trees stood. Across the river, Birch and Maple trees peaked through the larger Pine, Hemlock and Spruce, while the grass and ferns along the riverbank reflected in the stiller water.

Original photo used for reference. Taken September, 2021 at Arrowhead Provincial Park.
